In response to an 8% increase in on-the-road deaths in 2020, the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) has decided to reiterate last year’s focus on speeding and unsafe driving behaviors during this year’s Operation Safe Driver Week. Taking place from July 11th and July 17th, the week of heightened awareness will also focus on reckless or aggressive driving, distracted driving, following too closely, improper lane changes, failure to obey traffic control devices, failure to use a seat belt, and evidence of drunk or drugged driving in addition to speeding. HELENA, Mont. - "Slow down and move over when you see flashing lights," it’s a sentiment being echoed at the State Capitol after two tow truck drivers were killed last fall near Columbus.

Casey Allen and Nick Visser died when a car that did not move over, hit them on the side of the road as they were helping someone else. It all happened in the middle of a snowstorm and now lawmakers are pushing a bill through that would heighten the punishment for not moving over for any kind of emergency vehicle.
