While your Labor Day weekend may have been stocked with food, refreshments, barbeque grills, beach toys and lots of other fun items, truck drivers across America made that happen. They were busy traveling and making deliveries door-to-door and then getting back on the road to the next safe delivery.

Chances are you saw a truck on the road while you were heading out with your family to celebrate the holiday weekend at the beach, or on your way to the store to pick up school supplies for your child’s first day of school. That’s because trucks are on the road with us every day, rain or shine, including weekends and holidays. Millions of trucks travel our roads every day, and behind the wheel of [...]

Ford F-250 Super Duty CC LSFRumors have been swirling about a new engine from Ford to replace the aging 6.2-liter V8 and the 6.8-liter V10, and now an inside source has confirmed to TFLTruck that it will be a new 7.3-liter gas engine. Word broke of a possible new 7.3-liter V8 from Ford when a document leaked online over a year ago, showing the 7.3-liter engine on an oil recommendation list. Since then, another rumor suggested that it would be a 7.0-liter gas engine. ALSO SEE:

How drivers can stop diabetes before it starts

Approximately 84 million American adults – more than 1 out of 3 – have prediabetes, according to the CDC. Of those with prediabetes, 90% don’t know they have it.
Drivers with pre-diabetes – the precursor to Type 2 diabetes – is a warning sign for truckers and costly for fleets. Fortunately, it doesn’t take that much effort to keep a driver from becoming diabetic even if they are already diagnosed with pre-diabetes, according to health care experts. This problem can be turned around with simple steps including eating a healthier diet and losing weight, says Bob Perry, president of newly-formed Health in Transportation (Perry was the founder of Rolling Strong, which he later sold.). “It doesn’t take much to [...]
(The full report, released on Aug. 28, can be found through this link.) A study of 20 fleets found adoption of fuel efficiency technologies resulted in a savings of more than $600 million in 2017, compared with the average truck currently on the highway. The study issued by the North American Council on Freight Efficiency (NACFE) found these fleets achieved 7.28 miles per gallon in 2017 for their combined 71,844 tractors and 236,292 trailers. That was a 2% increase over 2016 and also represents a return to the 2% average gain since the study began in 2012. The average mpg for U.S. [...]
In kicking off its potential hours of service reforms process last week, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration cited two specific proposals brought to the agency as starting points to the hours conversation at large. At the core of both of those proposals is a chief — if not the chief — wish for many owner-operators: an end to the straight 14-hour clock. Groups advocating for flexibility in the so-deemed 14-hour rule say they have research to back up their cause. The American Transportation Research Institute on Tuesday released results of a study that ATRI says lends strong credence to allowing drivers to break up their 10-hour off-duty period (and, thus, their 14-hour on-duty period) into segments. The study “found that drive [...]
